There are some writers who will try to convince you that they came out of the womb with a pencil. I can't claim that. I started writing during one summer vacation, because I was so bored and had read everything in the house - twice. It wasn't long before I started to seriously study the craft of writing. Every once in a while, someone will ask what am I trying to convey with my writing. For me, writing really is an act of faith. I don't write because I know the answers, but because I want to know and I believe that writing is the way.
